Garden Detectives on the Case: Uncovering Nature’s Secrets with All Five Senses!

This year, 3rd and 4th graders from four Wyoming elementary schools are embarking on the Great Garden Detective Adventure! In their first lesson, the young detectives used their five senses to gather clues about the fruits and vegetables growing in the garden.

As part of this exploration, they tasted a variety of produce and used descriptive adjectives to capture the taste, sight, feel, smell, and even sound of each item they sampled.

Continuing their investigation as the growing season winds down, the students harvested produce from the garden. Focusing on their sense of smell, they picked herbs and created sensory wristbands. They also used their sight and touch to create leaf rubbings, bringing their garden discoveries to life in new and creative ways.
