February Garden Tips

February’s tips come from our fabulous garden tech, Jake Torok.

Get your supplies ready! Seed starting is just around the corner.
Start looking at your seed packets and taking note of which ones need to be started in order to be able to be transplanted outside as soon as their tolerance allows!

Peppers, thyme, and brassica family members (kale, broccoli, cauliflower) should be started indoors mid-late February! This will give them a good chance to germinate and be ready to plant outside in your garden after the danger of frost has passed!

If you plan to add slow-growing plants to your garden, February is the time to start them indoors. Onions, celery, pansies, and petunias are just a few seeds that should be started very early for the best results.
