The Case of the Missing Dressing: A Great Garden Detective Adventure

It was a day full of mystery and flavor as students put on their detective hats for the Great Garden Detective Adventure! Their mission? To solve a recipe mystery and uncover the secret to a delicious, healthy meal.

The adventure began with a lesson on the benefits of eating dark leafy greens—especially spinach. Students learned how spinach helps keep our bodies strong, our brains sharp, and our hearts healthy. Then, it was time to bring the lesson to life by preparing their very own Strawberry and Spinach Salad.

Before getting started, each student received a special apron from the Michigan Fitness Foundation. They were thrilled to discover fun facts and garden wisdom printed right on the fabric. Many took time to read through the messages, pointing out their favorite parts and proudly wearing their aprons with big smiles.

But just as they were about to mix in their homemade dressing—plot twist!—they discovered it had vanished! A dressing thief was on the loose! Giggles and gasps filled the room as students tried to crack the case. Luckily, there were just enough ingredients to whip up a new batch and complete their tasty salads.

After sampling their creations, it was time to take the adventure outside. Students marched to the school garden and planted spinach—the very same kind they had just enjoyed. With their hands in the soil, they made real-life connections between what they eat and what they grow.

From missing dressing to planting seeds, this garden mystery was packed with learning, laughter, and leafy greens!

We are thankful for our partnership with the Michigan Fitness Foundation, that gives us the opportunity to bring SnapED garden and nutrition lessons to these Wyoming Public School students.
