🥗 Fall in the Garden: Learning, Harvesting, and Tasting

This fall, our school gardens were buzzing with excitement as students rolled up their sleeves and experienced the full cycle of growing food. 🌿

🌻 Learning Garden Safety
Before stepping into the beds, students learned the basics of garden safety—how to use tools carefully, why we wear gloves, and how to respect the plants (and each other!) while we work. These lessons help ensure that the garden stays a safe, welcoming place for everyone.

🥕 Harvesting the Bounty
Once safety was covered, it was time for the fun part—harvesting! Students discovered and gathered fresh vegetables they had helped grow throughout the season. The pride on their faces said it all: this was their garden, and it was thriving.

🍎 Tasting the Rewards
After the harvest came the best part-enjoying the fruits (and veggies!) of their labor. Students prepared and ate fresh harvest salads, tasting crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes, crunchy cucumbers, and more. For many, it was their first time trying a salad they had grown themselves!

👜 Sharing with Families
And the garden goodness didn’t stop there—students even packed up a few veggies to take home, proudly sharing their harvest with their families.

These hands-on lessons remind us that gardening is about more than plants—it’s about teaching kids where food comes from, building responsibility, and celebrating the joy of growing and sharing food together.
